Three marine survey projects from three different clients have been awarded to geoscience and offshore engineering support service contractor Next Geosolutions for work in the Mediterranean Sea
The projects will involve a full range of marine survey disciplines including onshore, nearshore and offshore activities, most of which will be carried out by ROV-mounted sensors and tools.
Next Geosolutions has completed one of the contracts, encompassing multi-discipline survey tasks aimed to support a deepwater survey pipeline project. It performed geophysical, environmental, archaeological and unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey and relocation activities.
The other two missions are submarine cable route surveys providing topographical, geophysical, geotechnical and UXO survey activities in the eastern Mediterranean Sea to be carried out by hull-mounted, towed and ROV-based equipment.
For all three projects, Next Geosolutions has deployed the group-owned, high-specification DP2 class, Ievoli Cobalt, an MMC 879L CD platform supply vessel, with a deck area of 716 m3. Ievoli Cobalt is permanently fitted with a hangar-sheltered, ultra-heavy-duty Schilling ROV system, operated by long-standing partner company ROVOP Ltd. Onshore teams and nearshore spreads will complement operations locally. The three projects will keep this spread busy into Q3 2019.
Next Geosolutions was formed in 2014 through a joint venture between Italian OSV owner Marnavi Offshore and Italian engineering and geophysical contractor Tecno In. Next Geosolutions Europe Ltd is headquartered in London.
