OMS Secures $1.03B for Four Cable-Laying Vessels

OMS Group announced USD 1.0315 billion in financing facilities on November 3, 2026, comprising USD 911.5 million in corporate, trade, and export-credit-agency-backed term loan facilities, plus USD 120 million in additional trade facilities still pending financial close. The distinction matters: the announced total includes financing that has not yet closed. Atradius Dutch State Business and Export Finance Norway support the ECA-backed facilities. HSBC Singapore and Standard Chartered coordinated the transaction, acted as bookrunners, and handled the ECA financing. KKR Capital Markets advised on the corporate side. Lender subscriptions exceeded twice the offered size of the corporate and ECA-supported facilities.

The ECA-backed facilities support four modern, fuel-efficient fiber-optic cable-laying vessels being built in Vietnam and Poland. CS Genesis and CS Triumph are being built at Haiphong in Vietnam. The first targets delivery in 2027, while the second targets 2028. CS Resilience and CS Alliance are under construction in Gdynia, Poland, and both target delivery in 2028. The program therefore has one vessel targeting 2027 delivery and three targeting 2028. All four remain under construction; none has been reported as delivered, operational, or assigned to a cable project in the confirmed announcement details.

OMS says the vessels will expand its cable-laying capacity to meet demand for subsea connectivity associated with cloud, AI, and data-center development. For non-industry readers, the significance is the link between investment in digital infrastructure and the marine installation work needed to put fiber-optic cables into the sea. Financing four cable ships supports the physical resources for that work, rather than connectivity demand alone. OMS's stated objective provides the commercial rationale for the fleet expansion, but it does not establish a quantified shortage of installation capacity, guarantee vessel utilization, or confirm future project awards.

The current confirmed position is that OMS has raised the financing as described, with the additional USD 120 million in trade facilities explicitly awaiting financial close, while construction continues on all four vessels. The next confirmed milestones are financial close for those pending facilities and the targeted vessel deliveries: CS Genesis in 2027, followed by CS Triumph, CS Resilience, and CS Alliance in 2028. No more specific closing date or delivery timetable is provided. Those delivery targets remain future milestones, not evidence of capacity already available for cable installation.
