Ooredoo and e& Upgrade DC Connectivity Between UAE and Qatar

Ooredoo Group and e& Carrier & Wholesale announced that they have partnered to deploy the Gulf Gateway Cable (GGC1) subsea system to improve capacity, reliability and latency between data centres in Abu Dhabi and Doha.
Ooredoo and e& said the deployment of GGC1 significantly increases the existing network capacity, allowing both telcos to offer customers high-capacity services up to 28 Tbps with optimal cost and power efficiency per bit.
This also enables cost-effective scaling to meet growing bandwidth demands and enhance network resilience, they said.
Najib Khan, Group Chief Business Services Officer at Ooredoo, said the launch of GGC1 marked “a significant milestone” in modernising submarine networks in the Middle East.
“With GGC1, our customers will be able to enjoy enhanced international connectivity and reliability, further cementing our position as a leader in the telecom and infrastructure industry,” he said.
