Orange will be part of a consortium responsible for building and maintaining a new undersea cable of around 400 km linking the Comoros archipelago to Mayotte, expected to become operational in 2018. Named FLY-LION3, the cable will have two fibre pairs and an overall capacity of 4 Tbps.

It will bolster the so-called Lower Indian Ocean Network, which includes the existing LION and LION2 cables, opened in 2009 and 2012 respectively, and will also connect to the Eastern Africa Submarine Cable System (EASSy).
