Welcome to this tutorial on how to use the SubTel Cable Map. My name is Kieran Clark, Lead Analyst at SubTel Forum, and by the end of this tutorial, you will have learned how to use the Data Center map layer to view the location and details of over 1,700 data centers around the world.
Basic Viewing
Clicking any of the colored circle icons on the map will bring up details for the selected data center in the bottom left information pane.
The data center layer is currently configured to display the name of the facility, the facility owner and street address where available.
As you zoom in on a specific location, the base map will change over to display a street map, allowing you to see exactly where a facility is located.
If you select a feature that overlaps with others, a feature page count and navigation arrows will appear above the information pane.
View by Company
The Data Center entry in the layers list is configured to group data centers by company.
Click the Data Centers entry in the layers list to expand the full list of facilities. It may take a few moments to load as there are over 1,700 facilities.
From here, you can scroll through the list of companies, and click the corresponding arrow on the right hand side of the pane to see all data centers for that company.
Clicking on a facility from here will pan and zoom the map to the selected facility.
Group Filter
You can also use the group filter to view data centers by city or country.
Select the Data Centers by City group and input a city to filter the list of data centers to those in your chosen city.
Select the Data Centers by Country group and input a country to filter the list of data centers to those in your chosen country.
