Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) will begin fixing its slow internet connection linked to United States and North Asia on March 25 and estimates repairs will be completed by the end of the month.

This is according to TM in a statement today following massive complaints of internet connection disruption and slow internet speed, especially via Twitter.

Meanwhile, internet users may experience some degree of service degradation such as slow browsing and high latency while accessing international websites mainly hosted in the US, North Asia and Europe, it said.

“TM wishes to announce that our consortium members have detected a fault in the Asia Submarine Cable Express (ASE) system off Singapore, which has affected our Cahaya Malaysia submarine cable linking Malaysia to North Asia and the US.

“ASE consists of six fiber pairs of which TM owns two fiber pairs, named as Cahaya Malaysia.”
