HA NOI (VNS) — The Asia-America Gateway (AAG) undersea cable was fully repaired by 2.20am yesterday, restoring full Internet services between Viet Nam and other countries.

This was confirmed by a representative of FPT Telecom and the Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).

Director of VNPT International (VTI) Lam Quoc Cuong said the firm's customers could access the Internet as usual.

The 20,000km submarine cable was found cut at a section between Viet Nam's Vung Tau city and Hong Kong and Singapore at 5.27am on April 23. The cable break slowed down the Internet services between Viet Nam and other countries.

AAG is one of four Vietnamese undersea cables that accounts for 40 to 70 per cent of the Internet connection. — VNS
