Director of Public Relation of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) Bui Quoc Viet said on June 13 that the Asia America Gateway (AAG) submarine cable was completely repaired on June 12 which helped restore internet capacity from Vietnam to other countries.
Earlier, the submarine cable operation was broken , making reduce internet connectivity of providers between Vietnam and other countries, VNPT sent announcement to enterprises, internet service providers and worked the AAG management board to find out the way to overcome the breakdown.
The 20,000km submarine cable connects directly the Southeast Asian region to the United States. It became operational in 2009, connecting international internet traffic from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam (the coastal city of Vung Tau), Brunei, Hong Kong (China) the Phillipines and the US (Guam, Hawaii and California).
