Telconet Opens Guayaquil Data Center as CSN-1 Advances

Telconet has opened Telconet Cloud Center III in Guayaquil, adding a third data centre in Ecuador while preparing another facility in Quito. The company is presenting the Guayaquil site as part of a broader effort to expand its domestic digital infrastructure platform, combining data centres, connectivity, cloud and technology services. The move comes as the company points to rising demand from enterprise digitisation, cloud adoption and emerging artificial intelligence workloads.

The new TCC III facility is located at the Telcocity Technology Campus in Guayaquil. Telconet says it was designed using international infrastructure and availability standards, including TIA-942, TIA-568 and ISO/IEC 22237, with specialist technology suppliers supporting the project. The site joins an Ecuadorian infrastructure ecosystem that Telconet has built over more than three decades, including connectivity, cloud, security and transit services aimed at corporate customers.

Telconet’s data-centre expansion is also linked to its wider regional connectivity strategy. The company had previously outlined development plans in Guayaquil, Quito and Ancón, together with investments in submarine cable and network infrastructure. Telconet says it operates more than ninety thousand kilometres of national and international fibre and is participating in Carnival Submarine Networks-1, or CSN-1, a planned cable system intended to connect Ecuador, Panama, Colombia and Florida.

The current confirmed status is that TCC III is now open in Guayaquil, while the Quito data-centre project remains the next domestic facility Telconet says it is preparing. That planned site would complement the capacity already available in Guayaquil and extend the company’s infrastructure-service coverage in Ecuador. CSN-1 is still described as under development in the supplied material, with its planned geography confirmed but no Ready for Service date or construction timetable stated there. Telconet frames the new facility and CSN-1 participation as complementary pieces of one strategy: local computing capacity linked to broader domestic and international networks. The Guayaquil announcement does not quantify rack capacity, power availability or investment value, and it does not identify a construction start for Quito, so those details remain unconfirmed.
