Digicel informs that since Saturday, September 14, a fault has been detected on the international submarine cable of our provider ‘Cable and Wireless', crossing the Kaliko Beach Club Hotel. Our technicians went to the scene immediately but were denied access to carry out assessments and repairs.

Faced with these facts, our technical teams have put in place temporary measures to ensure the continuity of essential services. We are aware of the impact that this situation has on our customers who deserve to remain connected as well as on our operations.

We have taken note of the open letter from Paret Hospitality Group S.A. published on September 15, mentioning a debt from Digicel to them. Digicel wants to be clear :

We have no debt to Paret Hospitality Group S.A.

We inform the population that there is a legal action pending on this case since 2021, which has not yet been the subject of a court decision. Pending a judgment, Paret Hospitality Group S.A. cannot unilaterally demand financial compensation. It is regrettable that a person can disrupt access to an essential public service, especially in a context of insecurity where communication is crucial. In addition, it should be noted that this cable is used by all operators in the country who are also affected.

Digicel thanks its customers, partners, the press and the general public for their patience and support. We keep our teams mobilized on site and continue to seek the support of the competent authorities to quickly restore all services and continue to serve the population.

Finally, we hope that Mr. Paret, who addressed his ‘fellow citizens' in his open letter, will show solidarity with them.

Digicel acknowledges the defamation campaign of Mr. Fritz Emmanuel Paret, and reserves the right to take all legal action against his allegations. ”
