Philippines-Singapore C2C Link Restored

InfiniVAN said the Philippines-Singapore segment of the C2C submarine cable was restored and under monitoring from 12:48 p.m. on Saturday, according to Philstar Tech. The company described the issue as permanently resolved and service as operating normally. The announcement marks a restoration milestone following the previous day’s disruption, rather than a further report of the outage that had coincided with slow or intermittent connectivity across several Philippine providers.
During the preceding disruption, the UP Diliman Network Helpdesk warned that the Philippines-Singapore segment was offline and that users could experience higher latency or intermittent performance when accessing overseas sites. CableStatus also observed elevated latency between the Philippines and Singapore, but cautioned that its measurements alone could not identify the physical cable involved. Those observations documented connectivity conditions; InfiniVAN’s identification of its C2C Singapore link as down supplied the link-specific operational information.
The outage also occurred while InfiniVAN’s C2C Hong Kong link was under maintenance, reducing redundancy. Philippine providers rerouted affected traffic through alternate international links, making traffic management an important part of the response while the Singapore connection was unavailable. The restoration announcement therefore represents a change in the status of the affected segment, distinct from the alternate routing used during the disruption. It does not establish a physical cable break, a confirmed root cause or any particular repair operation.
For providers and customers relying on international connectivity, the operational significance lies in the return of a link whose unavailability had coincided with degraded service. The simultaneous maintenance affecting the Hong Kong link underscores the importance of redundancy when an international route goes offline. The Star corroborated the restoration the same day, reporting that InfiniVAN said the Philippines-Singapore segment was fully restored. Newsbytes subsequently reported the following day that PLDT and Globe services had normalized and that Converge had rerouted affected traffic.
The confirmed current status is restored service with continued monitoring of stability. InfiniVAN said it would issue a Reason for Outage report when available, making that report the next announced disclosure rather than a scheduled repair milestone. No release date for the report was provided in the verified account. Until that information is available, the restoration and normal-operation statements remain separate from any explanation of what caused the preceding disruption.
