Registration Opens for SubOptic 2019; Program Topics Announced

Submarine cable professionals are encouraged to register early and prepare for the Call For Papers from the SubOptic Association.
Sterling, Virginia – The SubOptic 2019 conference, themed To the Beach and Beyond – Rethinking Global Networks, opened registration to the public on March 1. This premier industry event for companies in the subsea cable industry will attract more than 1,000 subsea fiber-optic cable professionals to New Orleans, LA (USA) on April 8-11, 2019.
The program will incorporate sessions on all aspects of the subsea telecommunications industry and drive the focus past the shore into cities, companies and communities. Papers will be accepted from all professionals in the industry to address eight major topic areas including, the future of subsea networks, PoP-to-PoP and data center connectivity, as well as innovative developments in wet and dry technology.
The Programme Committee announced the appointment of Paper Committee Vice Chairs for each of the eight chosen topics areas:
- Tim Stuch (Facebook) will address Networks of the Future
- Wet Technology will be led by Olivier Gautheron (ASN)
- Dry Technology will be overseen by Yoshihisa Inada (NEC)
- Marine will be organized by Ana Chamon (TE SubCom)
- Kent Bressie (Harris, Wilshire & Grannis) will be leading sessions on the topic Regulatory, Legal & Security
- The topic covering Commercial and Funding will be organized by Bernard Logan (MainOne Cable)
- Global Citizen will be overseen by Nicole Starosielski (New York University)
- Denise Toombs (ERM) will oversee the topic of Oil, Gas & Special Markets
The SubOptic Association will announce the official Call For Papers during the second quarter of 2018. Master Classes and Keynote speakers will be secured in mid-2018 and announced through SubOptic 2019 and the SubOptic Association.
The Exhibition Hall is another popular highlight of the conference and already has 10 companies committed. Booth space is available to showcase products and services, network with clients and to serve as your company’s meeting spot. In addition to a full line-up of Master Classes, oral sessions and poster session – the SubOptic 2019 conference features a robust +1 Program aimed at providing spouses, companions and families the occasion to learn about New Orleans’s rich history, explore the swamplands, tour mansions and the French Quarter, and try their hand at cooking Creole cuisine or building a Mardi Gras Float. Tours are also offered pre and post conference so all attendees may experience everything New Orleans has to offer. Spouses and companions are invited to attend receptions during the conference and encouraged to register for a +1 Reception Pass. Children do not require a pass but may register for tours through the registration website.
