Welcome to this tutorial on how to use the SubTel Cable Map. My name is Kieran Clark, Lead Analyst at SubTel Forum, and by the end of this tutorial, you will have learned how to use the Cable Ships map layer to view the location and details of over 45 cable ships around the world.
Basic Viewing
This layer is automatically updated every 6 hours to provide users with real-time information on the position and destination of all active cable ships.
Clicking any of the cable ship icons on the map will bring up details for the selected vessel in the bottom left information pane.
The cable ship layer is currently configured to display the name of the vessel, the timestamp of its most recently updated position and its current destination.
Expanding the Cable Ships entry in the layers list will allow you to view all cable ships in list form. Clicking on a cable ship in this list will pan the map to your selection.
Group Filter
You can also use the group filter to search for a specific cable ship.
Select the Cable Ships group and input the name or partial name of a cable ship to filter matching results.
Click on the filtered results in the layer list to pan to your selection.
