Conatel: Venezuela Recupera el 100% de Conectividad Internacional Tras Concluir la Reparación del Cable Submarino

Venezuela’s National Telecommunications Commission, Conatel, has announced the full restoration of the country’s international connectivity after the Wave Sentinel completed repairs to a damaged Cirion subsea cable.

Conatel said definitive link tests showed the network had returned to its original design specifications and performance standards. The restored infrastructure is once again carrying the international capacity required by Venezuela’s digital ecosystem, moving the incident from an active repair operation to a completed restoration.

The regulator attributed the accelerated response to coordination among government authorities, Conatel and the private sector. It said permitting and logistical work that can take an average of 45 days was completed within a 14-day repair window. The Wave Sentinel’s crew and engineering teams then performed the reconnection and final testing at sea.

Conatel also said it maintained technical supervision throughout the maritime work. That oversight followed the earlier start of Cirion’s Venezuela cable repair and supported each phase of the operation through the final reconnection.

According to the announcement, the repaired cable belongs to a regional infrastructure footprint covering more than one hundred five thousand kilometers of fiber and 18 cable landing stations. The network connects to the regional Tier-1 backbone identified as AS3356. With testing complete and capacity restored, Conatel says the system is again operating at its intended performance level.
