Aventa has acquired Irish Sea Contractors, adding an established Irish marine contractor to its engineering, consulting and offshore operations business. Based in County Wexford, Irish Sea Contractors will retain its name and leadership, with Managing Director Áine Kinsella continuing to run the company. Wexford will remain the centre of its marine delivery activities. The acquisition gives Aventa an operational base in Ireland and combines its international project capabilities with a contractor whose team has more than 40 years of marine infrastructure experience.
Irish Sea Contractors brings experience in fibre-optic and power cable projects across Ireland, the United Kingdom and mainland Europe. Its activities include cable landfalls, pull-ins, nearshore installation, burial, protection and remedial work, alongside marine civil engineering and commercial diving for ports, harbours and critical infrastructure. The transaction also brings AERSUB into the Aventa group. Developed by Irish Sea Contractors, AERSUB is a DNV-qualified subsea cable repair solution, adding a specific repair capability to the combined business's broader installation and asset support offering.
For subsea cable clients, the commercial rationale is closer coordination between engineering decisions and offshore delivery. Aventa says the combination is intended to carry project knowledge from planning and design into construction, installation and long-term maintenance, reducing interfaces and identifying operational constraints earlier. Founded in France in 2010, Aventa works across marine energy and offshore transmission infrastructure. Bringing its consulting and engineering teams together with Irish Sea Contractors' practical delivery experience could provide greater continuity across project stages, rather than treating design, installation and maintenance as separate assignments.
Following the acquisition, Kinsella will also lead Aventa's expanded Operations business unit, which will combine Irish Sea Contractors' marine expertise with Aventa's existing operational teams and work alongside its Engineering and Consulting businesses. Aventa plans to invest in the Irish operation, broaden its services and create skilled positions as the business grows. It also plans a Dublin presence to support clients and develop projects. The combined business intends to pursue work in subsea cables, offshore wind, ports, harbours and other marine infrastructure while retaining its Wexford delivery base.
