Tele-Post Greenland has announced the successful repair to the damaged submarine cable in the north of the country, adding that specialists will inspect it to ascertain the cause of the breach. All of its customers north of Sisimiut have been reconnected to the network, said the operator.

The cable vessel will now sail on towards Qaqortoq in order to carry out repairs further south, and is expected to arrive in the damage location on 12 May. Private customers will then be offline until the cable has been mended. There will be reduced capacity for critical public institutions and for businesses until the repair is done, too. Customers will have mobile internet reception, but it might be unstable.

Customers in southern Greenland could suffer loss of service over a period of fifteen to 20 days. They will receive compensation.
