The next Plenary of the International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC) will be held in Miami, Florida during the period 21-23 May 2013 inclusive.

A large number of fibre optic submarine cable systems have been brought into service around South America and the Caribbean in recent years and many more projects are known to be in the planning stages. In recognition of this regional growth, it has been decided that the next Plenary of the International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC) will be held in Miami and its theme will be:

New routes, new technologies, new players and evolving challenges

The ICPC therefore seeks presentations from interested parties that help address the commercial, legal, technical and operational challenges of protecting submarine cables. Topics could include, but are not limited to:

Sharing the seabed: communications, energy and science

Government & Industry working together

Legal & regulatory challenges & solutions

Social, strategic and economic reliance on submarine cables

New technologies and best practices for cable protection

Helping new players to understand the basics of cable protection

The closing date for submission of abstracts is 28 February 2013 – please see attachment for further information.
