When Orange Telecom launched its services in Uganda last year, it said it had entered a “fast-paced and highly competitive business environment,” according to an Independent article.  Orange’s weapon of market penetration was the 3G+ technology of which it remained the sole provider on the Ugandan market.  Orange’s internet leadership is now under threat from the market leader, MTN.  However, MTN, launched this 3G+ technology in August and is rolling out fast. Zain, the second biggest telecom firm, also plans to install 3G+.  The entry of fibre optic international submarine cables, Seacom, Eassy, and Teams, has enabled more players into the speed-internet market.
