The ‘EllaLink' optical cable connects Europe to South America

The Portuguese presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) is today inaugurating an underwater cable that connects Portugal to Brazil. The ‘EllaLink‘ optical cable connects Europe to South America and is deemed “essential” for digital interconnection and data transmission between the two continents. ‘EllaLink’, is the first direct high-speed submarine cable connection between Europe and South America. The inauguration ceremony took place this morning and was presided over by Prime Minister, António Costa.
